Accion Comunal Latinoamericana de Montgomery County provides information and refferal, resettlement assistance, case management for children, families, and the elderly; ESL/adult education, job readiness counseling and job placement; and housing counseling. Spanish and English language services are available.
|ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES|
Under the Adult Protective Services Law, adults age 60 and older who - because of mental or physical dysfunction, frailty, vulnerability, and difficulty caring for themselves - are at risk from abuse, neglect, exploitation or dangerous situations, may be reported in need of Protective Services.
When you call the Elder Abuse line you will be asked for detailed information. You may choose to share your name or to make an anonymous report. Often, a timely investigation is initiated to explore the situation, and, if needed, to intervene and to stabilize the situation.
Many administrators, employees, and professionals who work with older persons are required by law to report suspected elder abuse.

Information and referral for families of mentally ill persons; Advocacy on issues related to mentally ill persons; Support groups for persons with mental illness and their family members. Call about support group meeting locations and times.
Information and support to persons with Alzheimer's disease and their families and caregivers, through support groups, training, and information. The SAFE RETURN program enables people in the community to assist someone with Alzheimer's who has wandered, by helping the person return home. A 24 hour HELPLINE (1-800-272-3900) provides support for caregivers.
